About Us

In 2018, xmt was created as a slack channel for ex MikroTik SA's.

WispWizards launched soon after from the simple idea of forming a pathway built on mutual respect and appreciation and performance for very successful and stable long term relationships between Remote Professional Contractors and USA based NOC Clients without the unfair feeling of high fees associated with distant and disconnected agencies.

How great would it be to have more control of your future by connecting with caring and appreciative clients offering steady daytime schedules and higher compensation so work /life is well balanced without the stress and pressures of a second job.

Requirements

  • MikroTik (RouterOS): 3+ years of hands-on experience; deep knowledge of VPN, VPN routing, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VLANs, NAT, DNS, PoE, monitoring, maintenance & resolution. Proficient with basic and advanced configurations; familiarity with Winbox and The Dude. Full documentation.

  • Ubiquiti (UISP): 3+ years of experience with UISP; strong understanding of wireless equipment, IP associations, PTP/PTMP, firmware updates, and link optimization using lp and db to maximize aim; ability to diagnose SNR and self-interference issues; capable of coordinating field techs for installs and trouble shoot service calls.

  • Certifications: MikroTik MTCNA is a big plus but not required; additional MikroTik or Ubiquiti certifications are beneficial.

  • English: Excellent spoken and written English required; accent-neutral is a plus.

  • Collaboration tools: Experience with Slack, Monday, Salesforce, ZOHO, HubSpot, and other collaboration/CRM platforms. Familiarity with monitoring and billing tools such as Sonar, Powercode, Splynx, SwiftFox, UISP, TD, Preseem, etc.

  • Security and confidentiality: Ability to work with confidential client data; willingness to sign NDAs; compliance with security and privacy standards.

  • Additional preferences: Ability to work across time zones, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, self-motivated with a proactive team based communication style.

  • Other daily tasks include inspecting and monitoring the network, on-call, documentation, submitting daily reports, and performing special projects with on time completion.

  • Quiet environment For customer-facing L2/L3 work conducted by phone or video, contractors must operate from a quiet, professional remote workspace free of distracting background noise (including street noise, barking dogs, loud music, televisions, children, horns, traffic, trains, etc.). Non-customer-facing positions are exempt from this requirement.

  • A reliable phone with a high-quality headset is required for all customer-facing L2/L3 work. USB or wired headsets with noise-canceling microphones are preferred.

  • A fast reliable internet connection with cellular backup during local outages..

  • A secure, virus-free laptop computer is required if you will access any client confidential programs or data. If you only access web-based sites, the remote contractors computer is typically acceptable, subject to client security requirements. If a dedicated computer is required, USA-based companies commonly provide remote professionals with all required equipment, including a company laptop (mobile and remains operations during power outages) at no cost. All equipment provided by the client must be returned in fully operational condition at the end of the contract, with all programs and files (including data) intact. Most clients require screen-capture or activity-monitoring software during work hours.

Compensation & Benefits

WispWizards is a third party man-in-the-middle service connecting English speaking remote professional IT contractors to long term focused NOC Clients.

WispWizards charges only the NOC client a membership fee to access our confidential vetted pool of professional contractors and to have man-in-the-middle separation when needed.

Remote contractors do not pay WispWizards any fees, and no commissions or deductions are taken from contractor payments.

  • Contractor compensation: The rate for each contractor is negotiated between the contractor and the client and documented in the engagement agreement. The contractor receives the full agreed-upon amount per pay period.

  • Payment flow: Clients pay WispWizards for the platform access and for the negotiated contractor compensation per engagement if third party distribution is needed. WispWizards disburses the contractor’s full pay per the engagement terms; no agency fees or commissions are withheld from the contractor’s pay.

  • Taxes and compliance: Contractors are solely responsible for all taxes, duties, fees, and permits required by their country or province of residence or where the work is performed. WispWizards and clients do not pay these taxes or fees on behalf of the contractor.

  • Exclusivity: The contractor agrees to be exclusive to the single client during the compensated period each day. Conducting paid or unpaid work for other clients during those compensated hours is not permitted.

  • Compensation structure: Both hourly and salary arrangements are documented in the engagement. Raises and bonuses are negotiated in the agreement.

  • Pay cycles:

    • Hourly contractors are paid every two weeks. A standard day is typically 9 hours with 1 hour for lunch (unpaid). Overtime rates follow the contract or local law.

    • Salaried contractors are paid every two weeks based on the annual salary divided by 26. A standard workday is typically 10 hours with 1 hour paid lunch. After-hours availability clauses may apply for outages.

  • Benefits: Common benefits may include paid time off for vacation and sick days and local holidays, as defined in the engagement agreement.

  • Work schedule and availability: A standard work schedule is 5 days per week during daylight hours. Weekend and after-hours coverage are coordinated and noted in the agreement. Outage and emergency after-hour coverage may be required for salaried positions as agreed.

  • Bonuses and raises: Any bonuses and pay raises are defined in the agreement. End-of-year bonuses are common in some client organizations but are not guaranteed or included in base compensation.

  • 100% pass-through advantage: The primary benefit for contractors is that they receive 100% of the contractor-pay amount as agreed, with no agency fees or commissions deducted from their pay. The platform fee is charged to the client separately.

  • Independent contractor status: The engagement is structured as an independent contractor relationship. Nothing in the agreement creates an employer-employee relationship.

  • Confidentiality and data security: Contractors must comply with confidentiality requirements and security standards as defined in the agreement and any applicable privacy laws.
